UNS — The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho bestowed the Surakarta Mayor’s Cup to the Surakarta City Championship (Kejurkot) Badminton Association (PBSI) champions. The champions’ trophy bestowal ceremony took place at the Faculty of Sports (FKOR) UNS, Sports Building (GOR), Saturday (29/1/2022) after the final match for all categories was concluded.
Also present during the ceremony were the Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka; Deputy Mayor of Surakarta, Teguh Prakosa; General Chairman (Ketum) of PBSI Surakarta, FX. Hadi Rudyatmo; Surakarta Police Chief, Kombes. Pol. Ade Safri Simanjuntak; and the Dean of FKOR UNS, Dr. Sapta Kunta.
UNS FKOR became the host for the 2022 tournament starting on January 26th, 2022. This annual agenda brings together 300 athletes from 14 badminton clubs in Surakarta, with 4 (four) age groups categories contested: the 9 (nine) years old category, 12 years old category, 16 years old category, and adults.
Previously, the Rector of UNS expressed his commitment to support and accommodate various activities held by PBSI Surakarta continuously. “We are ready to provide supporting facilities such as GOR (sports arena). Moreover, FKOR UNS is ready to be an education and training center (Pusdiklat) for badminton athletes in Solo,” said Prof. Jamal.
This City Championship Cup (Kejurkot) is expected to attract highly competitive young talents to uphold the city’s achievements and pride on the provincial, national, and international levels. Humas UNS
