UNS — International Conference on Advanced Material for Better Future (ICAMBF) was held by the Faculty of Mathematics and Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta on 7-8 September 2021. The international conference was held virtually through the Zoom Cloud Meetings and attended by 145 participants from various universities and institutions.
The Chief of the 6th ICAMBF Committee, Prof. Ir. Ari Handono Ramelan, reported that the participants came from UGM, UI, ITB, ITS, Unpad, UB, Unmer Madiun, and UNS. “We also recorded participants from research institutions, such as BATAN and LIPI. Some international participants came from Hungary, Rwanda, Africa, Suriname, and Papua New Guinea,” Prof. Ari stated. He also explained that ICAMBF aims to provide a means to discuss advanced materials and nanotechnology for researchers, industrial scientists, and academics and provide an opportunity for participants to disseminate their research.
Under the theme of “Challenges and Opportunities for Smart Materials to Achieve Sustainable Development”, this year, ICAMBF wants to promote and raise awareness on green and renewable energies in daily life. Renewable energies can be sourced from wind, solar energy, geothermal, hydro energy, and biomass that can be regenerated to achieve sustainable development. Prof. Ari also emphasized that Indonesia has a great potential for renewable energy. “From solar radiation, wind, water power, biomass, and geothermal. We need to use them to meet Indonesia’s energy demands,” he added.
Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yunus, provided a positive welcome in his opening remark and hoped that participants could enjoy the conference. “Hopefully, the conference could run smoothly and result in a recommendation that benefits people’s life,” he added.
The speakers invited to deliver materials at this conference are Prof. Santiago Gomez Ruiz (Rey Juan Carlos University, Spain), Prof. Roger Narayan (University of North Carolina the US), Prof. Suresh Valiyaveettil (National University of Singapore, Singapore), Prof. Takahiko Miyazaki (Kyushu University, Japan), Prof. MD., Rahim bin Sahar (Universiti Teknologi Malaya, Malaysia), Dr. Muthuraaman (University of Madras Guindy, India), Budi Sampurno (PT. Dirgantara Indonesia), Prof. Venty Suryanti, and Prof. Ari Handono Ramelan from UNS. Humas UNS
