UNS — The Integrated Medical Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta was accredited by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN). The accreditation process for the Integrated Medical Laboratory of FK UNS took place over two days on Thursday (February 29, 2024) and Friday (March 1, 2024).
Four assessors from KAN, namely Dian Asriani, S.Si., M.Si.; drh. Agus Wiyono, Ph.D; Dr. drh. Anni Kusumaningsih, M.Sc.; and drh. M. Syukron Amin, M.Si. directly reviewed the completeness of documents and observed the testing techniques in the Biomedical laboratory, Microbiology laboratory, and Parasitology laboratory at FK UNS.
The opening of this field assessment activity was attended by the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K).; Vice Deans at FK UNS; Head of the Integrated Medical Laboratory at FK UNS, Dr. Dono Indarto, M.Biotech.St, Ph.D.; and all laboratory supervisors and staff at FK UNS.
The Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Reviono, strongly supports this activity, as laboratory quality is crucial to maintain.
“Thus far, our laboratories have been focused on learning, education, and services. The change in our university’s status from BLU to PTNBH requires us to continually improve quality because, undoubtedly, the demands for quality from stakeholders and the community will also increase,” he said.
He hoped that the activity would proceed well and achieve the best accreditation results for the Integrated Medical Laboratory of FK UNS.

The Chair of the KAN Assessor, Dian Asriani, S.Si., M.Si., stated that the assessors’ visit is a manifestation of implementing the mandate of the law regarding standardization and conformity assessment.
“We are entrusted to carry out accreditation for the Conformity Assessment Agency, in this case, laboratories, because one of the laboratory activities is conformity assessment, particularly testing,” she explained.
Furthermore, it was conveyed that the purpose of this accreditation is to ensure the competence of the Integrated Medical Laboratory of FK UNS in conducting testing activities in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
It is hoped that with this laboratory accreditation, the quality of laboratories at FK UNS will further enhance its function as a superior place for teaching, research, and testing. HUMAS UNS
