UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students provided counseling to utilize house yard for Nambangan Village, Selogiri Sub-District, Wonogiri District community. This event is a realization of Group 309 of the Student Community Service Program (KKN) UNS program on “Improving Health Quality and Community Resilience during the Pandemic.”
Dr. Maria Ulfa., M.Si., acted as the field supervisor for the team with ten members: Hariz Fakhri, Atikah Tri Adriyanti, Nadine Rayna Salsabila, Neneng Dhea Fatimah, Resya Cindra Savitri, Zidane Rizky Andhika, Fajry Nafisah Rahmadani, Imam Nasa’I, Tiara Meti Pratingkas, and Adita Muskharini
Hariz Fakhri, in the release received by uns.ac.id on Monday (6/9/2021), stated that this program is selected because of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on community food resilience.
“One of the most crucial (impacts) is food resilience in the community that is not ready to face the turmoil of the pandemic and experienced a drastic drop. This also observed in Nambangan Village,” Hariz Fakhri explained.
The counseling was held online and offline by inviting Danang Sujarwo, S.P., from Womogiri Agricultural Training Center. Fifteen PKK members participated in the counseling and applied the health protocols for Covid-19.
Danang Sujarwo, S.P., delivered materials on the farming system in house yards. Participants were also asked to discuss in the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to understand the materials given fully.
“After the socialization, we also distributed plant seeds so that participants could practice their new knowledge directly,” Hariz said.
Hariz and his team hoped that through this counseling, Nambangan Villagers, especially participants, could start utilizing their yards sustainably as a source of food.
“Not only to meet food needs at household level and reduce spending but hopefully, could increase household’s income if managed properly,” he concluded. Humas UNS
