UNS — Fine Art Education Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta achieve another international level accomplishment. Alif Sholihin won 3rd position in a poster competition held by the American Chemical Society (ACS) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) International Student Chapter.
In an interview through a short messaging app, Alif explained that the competition has Embracing United Nations Sustainable Developments Goals (SDGs) Climate Action as a theme. Based on the cpmpetition theme, Arif designed a public poster that aims to scold and invite people to maintain the global ecosystem according to the 13th SDG objective. His poster is designed based on air pollution issues caused by industrial activities and motorized vehicles emission with non-environmentally friendly fuel leading to the ice depletion at earth poles.
“The increasing global warming, which at the extreme level will cause poles animals to lose their habitat and increase water volume on earth,” the last-year student said on Wednesday (28/4/2021). Starting from this issue, he wants to invite the community to protect animals on earth through an extreme poster that visualizes poles animals as homeless and beg people to avoid global warming before it is too late.
The competition results were announced through the ACS UTM International Student Chapter Facebook account at the beginning of 2021. Alif won over other participants from various countries and is delighted with his first winning in 2021. Before closing the interview, he hopes that UNS students can achieve many other international-level accomplishments.
“Considering UNS status as PTNBH, I hope there will be more wings that support UNS teachers and students quality because we know that we can spread our wings through Professional Certification Institution (LSP). Hopefully, there will be more efforts from UNS,” he concluded. Humas UNS
