UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students won another achievement. Two Diploma Program (D-4) in Work Health (K3) Vocational School (SV) UNS won 2nd prize in the national essay competition held by the Faculty of Community Health (FKM) Universitas Indonesia (UI) as a part of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Expo 12. the happy news was announced through the @ohsexpo.fkmui Instagram account on Sunday (19/9/2021).
Karisma Ayu and Zata Sabrina Ruwanto of Batch 2018 submitted an essay on “The Implementation of My Safety Notification System during the Covid-19 Pandemic,” which is in line with the competition theme “The Implementation of Occupational Health and Safety during the Covid-19 Pandemic”.
“We made (essay) on notification system. Similar to alarm but is adjusted to the employee’s jobs. So, it is personal in nature and can be controlled by the company supervisors,” Zata Sabrina explained to uns.ac.id on Friday (8/10/2021).
They explained in their essay that this notification system design could be a solution in improving employees’ work efficiency. The essay was inspired by employees’ Work From Home (WFH) habits that often procrastinate in completing the work. The essay also proposes the ease of coordination when applied to the Work From Office (WFO) scheme. Their application could minimize crowds during briefing or safety talks at the industrial level by swapping the activities with this system. Therefore, this application support company’s efforts in implementing 5M health protocols efficiently without reducing employees’ productivity.
This application offers a break reminders feature that provides various stretching methods that employees could perform during their break. The application also contains a mechanism that ensures that employees perform their tasks, and the supervisor could remind them through the chat feature. Karisma Ayu explained that the application could be applied to diverse jobs by installing it on an employee’s smartphone or laptop.
Sabrina and Karisma submitted two works in the competition and both of their writings were included in the Best 5 Essays together with participants from Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya (PPNS), Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah, and Universitas Indonesia (UI). They hoped that their essay could attract the company’s interest to realize the system application they proposed.
“We hope with this application companies will realize the importance of K3. Not only the companies but also their employees,” Karisma Ayu stated. Humas UNS
