UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students participated in developing the local potential in Pujotirto Village, Kebumen. The Group prepared two tourism development programs for waterfall and Indrakila mountain as a tourism destination and focused their program on Curug Ganden.
Group 34 selected both destinations because they have the potential of attracting tourists. Destian Wijayanto, as the Group Leader, stated that Pujotirto has various local potential that can be developed. “But the potentials are not developed significantly by the villagers. Therefore, we tried to develop the local potential in the village,” he explained.
Destian Wijayanto also added that their program focuses on community empowerment and includes tourism, economy, education, agriculture, health, and administration in the village. He explained that in their economic sector, his Group has two programs, training for packaging and promoting oyek, and training for handicraft production from jenitri seeds.
“In education, (we have) learning groups for elementary school (SD) students from second grade to sixth grade, Al-Qur’an class, and drawing competition for elementary school students to commemorate Indonesia Independence Day,” he added.
In the agricultural sector, the Group has an education program to create and use organic and chemical fertilizer. In the health sector, they socialize Covid-19 vaccination program and education on the utilization of organic wastes and preparing organic wastebin from used materials. Lastly, in the administration sector, the Group was educated on the importance of birth certificates and the required documents.
The Group’s programs received a warm response from the Pujotirto Villagers.
