UNS — Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Affairs Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Prof. Dr. Kuncoro Diharjo, S.T., M.T., underlies the importance of encouraging research and community services on the campus in the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) UNS Meeting, Thursday (31/3/2022). The meeting was held offline and was attended by the executive board and LPPM UNS management, discussing the performance evaluation and LPPM UNS flagship programs in 2021.

In his opening remark, Prof. Kuncoro reminded the participants that the steps taken by the institute should align with LPPM performance indicators and UNS Kay Performance Indicators (IKU). The Vice-Rector also hoped that the evaluation could improve LPPM’s performance culture. “If it has become a culture in LPPM UNS research and community services, we need to push again to create a flagship program in LPPM UNS,” Prof. Kuncoro stated.

Prof. Kuncoro realized the diversity of disciplines in UNS that has the potential to create various new flagship programs. Thus, as long as developments are implemented gradually, all potential research, from basic to applied research, could be pursued—especially those with commercial values and applicability in the community. UNS also needs to contribute to solving actual governmental and community issues and increasing students’ participation in research and community development. The Vice-Rector also appreciated LPPM UNS’ performance in 2020-2022 as the best achievers in UNS’ IKU and asked the executive board to prepare a roadmap as the basis for achieving the future IKUs.

Prof. Okid Parama Astirin, M.S., the Head of LPPM UNS, also provided directions and opened the meeting. In her speech, she explained the data, information, and sources used in evaluating LPPM UNS’ performance. The data are expected to assist LPPM UNS in creating excellent research and community service outcomes. Prof. Okid also explained the separation of duties between LPPM and the directorate in UNS and the short-term and long-term strategic plan.

LPPM has the primary duty of planning research and community services programs (P2M) in their strategic planning based on past activities in 2019 – 2020. The research and community services program under LPPM supervision has been implemented at the local, national, and international levels. LPPM also provides publication and administrative assistance for researchers in implementing and disseminating their studies. Humas UNS
