UNS — Faculty of Medical Science (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta demonstrated their creative expression through the Medical Band Festival on Thursday (26/5/2022) morning. The event’s festivities can be seen in the participants’ and spectators’ enthusiasm at the FK UNS Auditorium, which featured 14 participating and competing bands. The festival participants were students, medical doctors, and FK UNS Faculty members. This band competition seems to break the stereotypes and show that health workers can perform art activities. As a jury, FK UNS invited three artists and music practitioners in Solo.
Attending the event was the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, SH, M.Hum., together with the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. dr. Reviono, Sp.P(K), Vice Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs FK UNS, dr. Paramasari Dirgahayu, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Human Resource, Finance, and Logistics Affairs, Dr. dr. Diah Kurnia Mirawati, Sp.S., as well as the Vice Dean for Planning, Business, Partnership, and Information Affairs, Dr. dr. Selfi Handayani, M.Kes.
In his remark, Prof. Jamal claims that he was thrilled and proud. Since FK UNS successfully organized many events, one of them was the Medical Band Festival. Casually, Prof. Jamal also expects FK UNS to prepare health workers who are also talented in art. “I’m so excited. Congratulations, and I wish for the success of the Faculty of Medical Science for organizing such a beautiful event,” said Prof. Jamal.
Representing the organizing committee, dr. Andri Putranto, M.Sc., also said that the artistic talent possessed by health workers should be shown to the public. Thus proving that Medical experts are not only skilled in the intellectual field but also in the art performance. He also thanked the Rector and Dean of FK UNS, who had given him the opportunity and also succeeded in carrying out this activity.
The participating bands performed songs from a variety of genres from across generations. The songs were performed flawlessly, which brought joy to the audience. The best arrangements and talents are performed to compete and entertain the audience. The champion of this competition will be announced in early June.
Medical Band Festival is one of a series of Medical Fiesta 2022 events organized by FK UNS. Other activities in the series include Gowestory, Tiktok Competition, Medical Dancing Aerobic, Futsal Competition, Stand up Comedy, Photography Competition, Website Competition, Virtual Choir, and Gladhi Beksan. The whole event took place a whole day, starting in the early morning. Of course, every event still adheres to a strict health protocol. Humas UNS
