UNS — The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Menko PMK RI), Prof. Muhadjir Effendy, delivered an opening remark when attending the National Meeting (Munas) II of Association of Indonesia Public University Alumni (Himpuni) 2022 in UNS, Saturday (26/2/2022).
In his speech, Prof. Muhadjir Effendy shared the importance of Human Resources (HR) development and emphasized the need to improve the national education system. “We know that in the Soeharto era, he established Elementary School (SD) based on Presidential Instruction (Inpres) that could eliminate illiteracy in the community. Sadly, SD Inpres was not designed for the basic education system. In comparison, education development needs to be conducted from the early stage. This condition makes our human resources to be less competitive. Thus, serious action (needs to be taken to solve this issue). In the Jokowi era, we started the correction to build HR at the elementary education level,” Prof. Muhadjir stated.
Prof. Muhadjir also discussed the Demography Bonus that Indonesia will have in 2036 or even peak in 2032. He was concerned about the ability to provide workplaces for productive community members. The Minister also added that in 2045 Indonesia would enter the aging society or aging population, which the government has prepared through Undang-Undang (UU) Cipta Kerja.
Prof. Muhadjir hoped that Munas II Himpuni could socialize these issues to achieve sovereignty and dignity for the state, be involved in the political stage, and benefits the nations. Lastly, Prof. Muhadjir hoped that Munas II Himpuni’s results could positively impact the future of the nations. “Hopefully, Munas II Himpuni hosted by UNS could be successful, and the results could meet the nation’s needs,” Prof. Muhadjir concluded.
