UNS — Nazhir Wakaf and Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta distributed 165 tablets to UNS students affected by the pandemic. This distribution is conducted on Tuesday (17/8/2021) during the new Hijiri Year 1443 celebration. Previously, Nazhir Wakaf had conducted fundraising with total collected funds of IDR 265,810,000.
This program was promoted because many UNS students could not participate in online learning because they do not have adequate electronic devices. The tablet computer was distributed to 165 students from 11 faculties, vocational school, and postgraduate school with diverse races, religions, and ethnicity.
The Chairman of Nazhir Wakaf UNS, Prof. Triyanto, thanked all community and UNS academic members who have supported and participated in the fundraising process.
“We have managed the waqf funds from the academic members, and we manage it into investment or development, including in Bali cattle farm which generated result for the aids for UNS students and for the table donation for UNS students affected by the pandemic. This donation was distributed to students with diverse races, religions, and ethnicities,” he stated in his opening remark.
Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, the Rector of UNS, appreciated the Nazhir Wakaf performance that collaborated with the UPZ UNS.
“A few days ago, we raised funds to help students by distributing computed tablet for students. Thank you to all donors. I hope Nazhir Wakaf UNS will prevent UNS students from dropping out because they do not have money to pay their tuition,” Prof. Jamal stated.
Even though waqf is a Muslim’s activity, but the tablet was distributed without considering the race, religion, and ethnicities.
“This computer tablet (distribution) is not only for Muslim community but also for the nation (NKRI) and is proof that UNS is committed as a campus that implements Pancasila values,” he added.
One of the awardees, Muhammad Alief Hidayat from the Faculty of Law (FH), thanked UNS and all donors for this assistance.
“With this computer tablet assistance, I could participate in the online learning that will be held on the next fifth semester, considering the limited equipment and the Covid-19 impact on my family and me. This computer table will help me learn and complete my assignments later,” the Faculty of Las student stated. Humas UNS
