UNS — Faculty of Medical Science (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta started to demonstrate its readiness to open Sub-Specialist Program (Sp-2) in Internal Medicine through the online field assessment (AL) on Thursday (17/3/2022) to acquire a legal permit from Independent Accreditation Institute for Medical Universities (LAM-PTKes).
The assessment was opened directly by Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, mentioned UNS’ readiness to open the new program in his opening remark. “UNS, with its autonomous status, is fully ready and feasible to open the new sub-internal medicine program in the Faculty of Medical Science,” Prof. Ahmad Yunus stated.
LAM-PTKes, through its Director of Accreditation, Soetrisno, sent two assessors, Prof. Dr. dr. Maimun Syukri, Sp.PD-KGH, FINASIM., from Universitas Syiah Kuala (Unsyiah) Banda Aceh and Dr. dr. Sony Wibisono Mudjanarko, Sp.PD-KEMD, FINASIM., from Universitas Airlangga (Unair) Surabaya. The assessment process took one day, and the assessment result was provided through the Accreditation Information System (SIMAK) Online Minimum LAM-PTKes.
The new program has diverse strengths. It will become the 6th program of University Based in Indonesia after Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri), Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Padjajaran (Unpad), and Universitas Airlangga (Unair). It will also become the first program in Central Java that offers various concentrations such as tropical infections, kidney, hypertension, and gastroenteric-hepatology with excellence in Translational Research.
The program is also supported by high-quality and competent human resources, 18 sub-specialist consultant doctors, with 6 of them having doctorates and professors. The program is also supported by the Indonesian College of Internal Medicine and Medical Council and supported by the Internal Medicine Specialist Program’s track records by three excellent accreditations from LAMPTKES.
The program also has numerous international collaborations with the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad India, Uonoma Kikan Hospital Japan, JSGE St. Mary’s Hospital Seoul. FK UNS Sub-Specialist Program in Internal Medicine also hosted a hospital-based subspecialist education program in the Regional Public Hospital (RSUD) Dokter Moewardi from 2018 to 2020 and graduated five students. Students’ achievements are guaranteed with the availability of facilities such as type an A teaching hospital and several network hospitals with an adequate number and variety of cases. Humas UNS
