UNS — The Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a blood donor on Sunday (19/9/2021), organized by Biology Education Student Association (HMP Biosfer). The blood donor was carried out in the FKIP UNS D Building lobby with 25 blood donors, consisting of the Study Program students, academic members, and students from other Study Programs in FKIP UNS.
“This blood donor is a community service program conducted by students for the community. It is expected that the donor can be beneficial and help any party in dire need of blood donor,” Dr. Muzazzinah, the Head of Study Program, reveals.
HMP Biosfer, in the execution of the blood donor, is collaborating with the Indonesia Red Cross Organization (PMI) in Surakarta. PMI Surakarta appreciates the effort through this event as currently depleting blood donor stock for types A, B, and AB can be replenished.
“Most of the participants applying for donor passed the screening, only a small part of them do not pass because of blood pressure and hemoglobin condition,” said Dr. Muzazzinah.
The blood donor receives positive appreciation from the UNS academic members. Through a survey conducted during the donor, all donating participants admitted that they were satisfied with the blood donor organized by HMP Biosfer and PMI Surakarta. Additionally, all participants are enthusiastic about joining the next blood donor.
“I am pleased with the fact that I can help the community through a simple action,” said Ayu Vetrisya, one of the blood donors.
The PMI Surakarta thanked the Head of Study Program, who assisted the event, and all students participating as the donor. This blood donor is a recurring event conducted by the Biology Education Study Program.
Participants are encouraged to use Ayodonor mobile application to facilitate blood donor activity. After the donor, participants are asked to fill a customer satisfaction survey for PMI Surakarta through a WhatsApp message sent to each donor. PMI Surakarta requested the participants invite their close relatives and colleagues for blood donors and wish to meet them as the next blood donor in PMI Surakarta. Humas UNS
