UNS — Two Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students who competed in Putra Putri Lawu Karanganyar District Tourism Ambassador 2021 won proud achievements in the prestigious competition. In the Grand Final held in rural tourism destination, Mojogedang Sub-District on Saturday (4/9/2021), Falista Kusuma Ayu from Javanese Language Education Program won 2nd Place as Putri Lawu, and Cahya Ichsan Pralambito from Development Economics Program won the Photogenic Winner of Putra Lawu 2021.
Putra Putri Lawu Karanganyar District Tourism Ambassador 2021 is a tourism ambassador selection competition held by Karanganyar District Tourism, Youth, and Sports Office to promote its tourism potentials. Both winners shared their experience with uns.ac.id team on Wednesday (8/9/2021). Falista shared the steps she went through in the competition. Her difficult journey started from registering as a participant in the selection, preparing materials on tourism and culture in Karanganyar District, and passed the written and interview examinations before entering the Grand Final.
“Alhamdulilah, the examinations run smoothly. I also need to participate in interest/talents selection by sending tanggap wacana/sesorah video in Javanese about tourism in Karanganyar,” Falista explained.
The Putra Lawu finalist, Cahya, shared that during the competition, his main challenge in time management because this competition was held when the new semester started. Therefore, he needs to share his time for studying, organizational activities, and the selection process. “The process and various selections in Putra Lawu Karanganyar District Tourism Ambassador were quite hectic. The challenge in interest/talents selection was the available time for video production, which was only three days, while I need to attend lecture and has a responsibility in my organization,” Cahya explained. Despite the tight schedule, Cahya could pass all the stages successfully.
Struggle to Grand Final
Putri Law grand finalist, Falista, said that the preparation for the grand final took a week with briefing and choreography training from the committee. Cahya also added that he received materials on Karanganyar District tourism fields before the grand finale as the last stage of the competition. “In the grand finale, there was a challenging session, a question-and-answer session in front of the juries and viewers. Alhamdulillah, because of my strong self-confidence, I could do it well and smoothly,” Cahya said.
Falista and Cahya also shared their hopes and motivations with the uns.ac.id team. Falista stated that she wants to develop the Karanganyar tourism sector through the use of information and communication technology. She also wants to give a good example of the attitudes and ethics of Putri Lawu 2021 to the community. “Lastly, I want to introduce the cultural values in the history, custom, and tradition in Karanganyar District. I want to be able to socialize the beauty and value of the Karanganyar tourism sector,” Falista added.
Cahya shared similar motivations but emphasized inspiring the community, especially the young generation, to promote Karanganyar tourism. “I will involve my generation, the young generation, to be aware and love our region, Karanganyar. How we could introduce it (to people),” Cahya concluded. Humas UNS
