Farewell Ceremony for Thailand Students in SEA-Teacher Project Program

The students participated in the internship program located in Surakarta due to their involvement in “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA-Teacher Project)”. FKIP UNS was represented by 6 students; 5 students in Thailand and 1 student in Philippines. Those five students were Aziz Mustolih (English Education Department), Putri Safitri (Mathematics Education), Zahrtunniss (Physics Education), Citra Mashita (Biology Education) and Afifah Nur M. (Early Age Education). Meanwhile, the internship program in Philipines was represented by Maria Ciptaning Sabdo, a student of Chemicals Education.

The dean of FKIP UNS, Joko Nurkamto stated that Southeast Asia Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) was the third party taking role in this program. SEAMEO is the organization involving the ministers of Education around Southeast Asia countries in which the teacher education revitalization becomes one of its programs.

“One of the requirements to conduct the student exchange is the credit transfer,” Joko said. Credit Transfer allows the students not to involve in the same program, which is the teaching internship, in their countries.

IDR 6.7 Millions of the allowance being allocated for FKIP

Joko said that the student exchange is one of the UNS programs to achieve college legacy and to be the world class university. The vision stated by the rector, Ravik Karsidi, is that acceleration and internationalization become the standard to conduct overseas students exchange, as well as memorandum of understanding (MoU), memorandum of execution (MoE), overseas teacher exchange, joint research, joint publication, and many more.

In order to attain those internationalization visions, FKIP was allocated 6.7 millions in 2016. However, FKIP only allocated 500 millions. Joko suggests all of the chief of departments coming in that event to find the overseas partners to save the allowance for FKIP. “Contact the foreign board, get closer to them, have a visit to examine the curriculum, then sign the MoE or MoU.” Joko suggested. [denty.red.uns.ac.id]
