UNS — Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has started to change its learning method from fully online to blended learning. uns.ac.id has an opportunity to monitor the blended learning implementation in Accounting Education Program FKIP UNS, Thursday (29/4/2021) in Building F Hall FKIP UNS.

Students who attend the program must have a permit from their parents and tested negative for Covid-19 based on the rapid antigen test, swab test, or GeNose. At the same time, students who do not attend the offline class participated in the online class through Zoom Cloud Meeting. The blended learning activities were implemented after UNS was permitted to implement Face to Face class trial (PTM) on Wednesday (7/4/2021) in three faculties, Faculty of Law (FH), Faculty of Medical Science (FK), and Faculty of Sports (FKor).

The courses taught in the blended learning are Intermediate Accounting I instructed by the Director of Finance and Assets Optimization UNS, Dr. Muhtar. On the occasion, Dr. Muhtar explained his material on “Impairment, Depreciation, and Depletion” to 80 students. “Impairments is eliminating fixed asset value due to the global crisis affecting the economy of a country. Impairment is implemented when a firm cannot recover the book value of an asset, both by using or selling it,” Dr. Muhtar explained. Dr. Muhtar also explained the definition of depletion and amortization. Depletion is the cost reduction of mineral resources such as oil, gas, and coal in a certain period. In comparison, amortization is the elimination of intangible right expiry dates such as patents or copyrights.

Sneak a Peek of Blended Learning Accounting Education Program FKIP UNS

The students attending the blended learning said that they are happy because they can meet their friends and teachers directly for the first time, as Kus Indrani Listyoningrum and Rima Tri Hapsanti mentioned to uns.ac.id. Kus Indrani Listyoningrum said that blended learning is something new for her because, so far, she only listened to class material through her laptop and gadget monitor. “FKIP has started from the first week of April, but Accounting Education Program only started in the fourth week,” the Mojokerto student who lives in boarding house said. She added that she received a permit from her parents and tested negative for Covid-19 based on GeNose test as required.

Rima Tri Hapsanti, a student from Surakarta, also stated that she is excited to participate in the blended learning program and felt nervous about coming to the campus for the first time. “This is the first time, and parents also support (me)—the first-time meeting friends. Hopefully, (we) can apply the health protocol well and physical distancing. Today (I) got a different feeling and relieved with offline (class),” she said. Humas UNS
