UNS — MTA TV held a talk show entitled “I’m a Vocational Student, I’m Outstanding” on Tuesday (8/2/2022), inviting 3 (three) outstanding students from the Vocational School (SV), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. The three students are Donda Trifilia Arga, from Diploma in Civil Engineering Study Program; Ayu Anisa, from Diploma in Administration Management Study Program; and Dea Novita Ifanka Putri Fachilla, from Four Year Diploma Program in Health and Company Hygiene and Work Safety (K3).
Similar to undergraduate students, SV students have similar opportunities to achieve success. This statement is emphasized by Arga, when he won 1st Place in the Indonesian Bridge Competition organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in collaboration with the National Achievement Center in Pontianak. In the competition, where numerous Civil Engineering students from all across Indonesia participated, Arga and the team succeeded in defeating competitors from higher education levels. He and his two friends have also won 3rd Place in the National Thunder Competition at WCC, Bali, in 2019.
Meanwhile, Ayu Anisa and her two friends won 3rd Place in the Indonesian Vocational Olympiad (Olivia) in Scientific Writing Competition under the Social and Law category by presenting a scientific article entitled ‘Data Raya Application Design as a Data Digitization Platform and Population Service to Realize Temanggung Smart City in the PowerPoint O Technology Era.’ “Because this is the first time I have participated in the competition, I don’t know how to write scientific papers and express our ideas. In this competition, we need to learn from scratch,” said Ayu Anisa.
Not only on a national scale, Dea Novita Ifanka Putri Fachilla and the team also succeeded in upholding Vocational students’ prestige on an international scale. The team managed to win 3rd Place at a Scientific Paper Competition on Traditional Game Application organized by Universitas Malang, with an article on the background of the traditional Indonesian games of Gobak Sodor, Egrang (stilts), ABC Lima Dasar, and Congklak. Games that are currently less well known by children. Dea and the team were also succeeded in developing their article on traditional games into a safety-based virtual game application and displayed it at the International Product Exhibition in Germany and won a bronze medal.
Showing outstanding achievement as students from the vocational program, Arga, Ayu, and Dea agreed that they had the same opportunities as undergraduate students. Arga advised changing the mindset regarding SV as a low-level education, because in reality, in a competitive world, everyone has the equal opportunity to win. Humas UNS
