UNS — Education about the Covid-19 pandemic remains the focus activities of Student Community Service Program (KKN) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta for this period. Team 260 deployed to the Pule Village, Selogiri Sub-District, Wonogiri, for instance. This team consisted of eight members, namely, Nindya Eka Apsari (the Team Leader from the Statistics study program), Ardhian Yanuar Tri Adji (Special Education/PKh study program), Istikhomah Nindy Kusuma (Economics Education study program), Rosifa Sahara Prasiwi (Industrial Engineering study program), Hanifah Fauzizah (Science Education study program), Chintya Puspa Dewi (Agrotechnology study program), Ainun Khofifah (Urban and Regional Planning study program), and Liza’zil Fani (Chemistry Education study program), focused on Covid-19 response and family medicinal plants socialization.
Under the supervision of Gusti Fauza S.T., M.T., Ph.D., the team chooses to visit the residents’ houses instead of organizing a forum meeting. Rosifa, as the team representative, explains to the uns.ac.id team that the method was chosen to avoid the crowd. Moreover, the team hopes that the information delivered personally to each resident’s house will be more communicative and intense. The information conveyed through the visit includes the importance of vaccination, the danger of Covid-19 transmission, the importance of health protocol, prevention of false news, and information regarding family medicinal plants as well as how to plant them. The team also handed a Covid-19 prevention kit and medicinal plant seeds (ginger, Kencur/aromatic ginger, red betel, and galangal).
“We hope these seeds can be cultivated by the residents and can be beneficial to improve their immunity during this ongoing pandemic,” said Rosifa, Sunday (29/8/2021).
Automatic Hand Sanitizer
The Team 260 main program is complemented with a supporting program to create an automatic hand sanitizer machine. The machine will be handed to the Village Hall with the hope of helping the residents in implementing one of the health protocols in Covid-19 transmission prevention. “Especially during special village occasions such as Posyandu, food assistance distribution, vaccination, and many others. This automatic hand sanitizer machine can help the village apparatus to prepare health protocol infrastructure,” explains Rosifa. The machine assembled by the team needs several materials such as an infrared sensor, transistor, resistor, battery, charger module, switch, cable, hand sanitizer bottle, hand sanitizer liquid, and outer package.
When asked about the residents’ involvement, Rosifa explains that the team did not involve the residents during the machine assembly. “We think this activity will burden the village residents because we need a trial-and-error process to complete a perfect machine. However, we still get a positive response from the Village Chief and village apparatus when they tried the machine,” Rosifa added. Humas UNS
