UNS — The Council of Rector of Indonesian State University (CRISU), who is also the Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, discusses the Public Universities (PTN) readiness to held face-to-face learning (PTM) this year.

Prof. Jamal stated that CRISU handed the policy to conduct face-to-face learning to each university Rector as long as they meet the government’s requirement. He added that in several CRISU meetings, most public universities are ready to conduct face-to-face learning. He reminded that this activity should follow the Joint Decree (SKB) from the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud), Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag), Minister of Health (Menkes), and Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) on the Guidelines for Learning Implementation in the Even Semester and Academic Year of 2020/ 2021 amid the Covid-19 Pandemic.

“Rector should coordinate with Covid-19 Taskforce when they want to open (face-to-face learning). Because each Rector is ready,” Prof. Jamal said in the meeting during Covid-19 vaccination with the Indonesian Police Chief (Kapolri) and Surakarta Mayor in Pendaphi Gedhe Sala, Thursday afternoon (25/3/2021).

Prof. Jamal added that face-to-face meetings should be implemented gradually and following the requirements, supporting his statement on 11 February regarding face-to-face learning plan at the beginning of the even semester. “The plan should be allowed by Covid-19 Taskforce, supported by the parents, and students have options to join or not joining,” Prof. Jamal stated.

In terms of coordination between UNS and the Surakarta Government, Prof. Jamal said that UNS is ready to manage face-to-face learning if the government allows. But not all students will be allowed to join the offline session to avoid crowding. He stated that a meeting to discuss when face-to-face learning will start between UNS and Surakarta Mayor, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is scheduled. Gibran has also planned to visit UNS.

“We scheduled on Monday, but because Mas Gibran has another plan, it is canceled. And (he) said sorry for not be able to go (to UNS),” Prof. Jamal concluded. Humas UNS
