Science and technology program for entrepreneurship is one of the annual activities carried out by PPKwu in order to generate the young entrepreneurship especially for UNS students. PPKwu itself is the board under the authority of Research and Society Service Institution (LPPM UNS) that has the obligation to develop the students’ entrepreneurship by conducting such activities. The activities that has been going on for two years aimed to assissting students’ efforts in business. Two main activities conducted by PPKwu are Entrepreneur Student Program and Science and Technology Program for Entrepreneurship.In the first year, 78 students are selected out of 411 applicants who wanted to be enrolled in Entrepreneur Student Program. In Science and Technology Program for Entrepreneurship, 20 are selected out of 50 applicants. The high number of applicants makes PPKwu to intensively conduct those two activities annually.
In 2011, those 20 students who became the tenants of Science and Technology Program for Entrepreneurship are assisted to be the competent entrepreneurs that will be able to manage their business, calculate the risks that may come up, fulfill the market demands, maintain the resources, develop the business plans, and optimize the technology to increase their business quality and quantity. This assistance is set up mainly for enhancing the students’ ability to develop entrepreneurship education and to achieve the goal of curriculum as the response to create young entrepreneurs that will create job field in the future.
Science and Technology Program for Entrepreneurship in the second year has two major activities which are: follow up assisstance for the first year tenants and open recruitment for the second year tenants. PPKwu sets up the follow up assisstance for the first year tenants by carrying out the business consultation service, business partnership, and business management training. Moreover, PPKwu holds the open recruitment for the second year tenants through several steps, they are: publication and sosialization, tenants registration, selection, follow up entrepreneurship training, marketing internship, business development assisstance, business development fund, and study visit. PPKwu will focus on the internet marketing for the second year tenants, building a brand strategy, deciding business target, expanding business cooperation, designing business strategy, and improving customer service in order to increase the tenants’ turnovers.
By conducting these programs in Sebelas Maret University, PPKwu has played the important role in creating entrepreneurs for the students in UNS so that after graduating from this institution, they are able to create job field and the competent entrepeneurs for the next generation.
