UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held the 77th Republic of Indonesia (RI) Independence Day Ceremony on Wednesday (17/8/2022) in the front court of Dr. Prakosa Building. This ceremony was held on-site after two years of the virtual ceremony due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Colorful traditional clothing from various provinces across the archipelago, worn by university leaders, also adorned the Dr. Prakosa Building courtyard.
The ceremony, led directly by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, was attended by the UNS academics members, including lecturers, academic support staff, Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP), and students. The Pancasila manuscript was recited by the Secretary of the Academic Senate (SA), Prof. Ari Handono Ramelan, while the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution was recited by the Secretary of the Trusteeship Council (MWA), Prof. Tri Atmojo Kusmayadi. While a remark from the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek), Nadiem Anwar Makarim, was recited by Prof. Jamal.
In his remarks, Nadiem Makarim conveyed that the community should not stop moving and step in continuing the struggle for Indonesian independence. Moreover, this year, Indonesia takes on the spirit of ‘Recover Faster, Rise Stronger’ as the national tagline. “This spirit is currently implemented through the G20 presidency in 2022 with the great role of Kemdikbudristek in mobilizing global collaboration to restore and revive the education system. We have set an example to the world that the learning process in Indonesia today is increasingly in favor of students and frees teachers to be creative in teaching through the Merdeka Curriculum and the Merdeka Learning platform,” said Prof. Jamal reciting the Minister of Education and Culture’s remarks.
Prof. Jamal also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all participants and ceremonial officers who attended the 77th Anniversary ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia. Humas UNS
