UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta together with the Association of Singers, Songwriters and Musicians of the Republic of Indonesia (PAPPRI) will hold a National Day Festival on Sunday (21/5/2023). This event is going to be held in commemoration of National Awakening Day which falls on May 20 2023. Carrying the theme “Musik Menjangkau Jiwa” (Music Reaches the Soul), the National Day Festival will be lively and studded with the capital’s artists and musicians.

The National Day Festival presents several agendas that are worth visiting by the public. In the morning, activities will begin with a talk show. Entering midday, there is a Pop Art Market with many interesting booths. Finally, the National Day Festival was closed with a music concert which is enlivened by many capital city musicians from 19.00 WIB to 22.00 WIB on the courtyard of UNS Rectorate Building.

The national dialogue talk show will take place at the Auditorium G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS from 10.00 WIB to 12.00 WIB. In this talk show, there will be a dialogue that contains a discussion about the importance of the spirit of nationalism for today’s young generation, and also the relationship between culture and the spirit of nationalism. Al Zastrow will act as moderator on this occasion. The National Dialogue presents various well-known speakers, including Once Mekel, Sujiwo Tedjo, Dwiki Dharmawan, Raissa Anggiani, and Alffy Rev.

The Pop Art Market agenda will take place at noon starting at 12.00 WIB. The committee will provide 20 bazaar booths that will be used by creative business owners. The Pop Art Market itself will take place in the courtyard of the UNS Rectorate Building.

The Chairman of the National Day Festival Committee, Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto said the National Day Festival is part of a movement to reach, activate and knit a sense of pride in the souls of each Indonesian youth through a series of events with nationalism nuances.

“This activity inflames and instills the spirit of nationalism as well as nationalism and love for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI),” Dr. Deddy explained on Friday (19/5/2023).

Meanwhile, the Interim Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Business, and Information, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, M.Sc., Ph.D., added that the National Day Festival is a big step for UNS in welcoming 100 years of Indonesian independence. The event wrapped in this concept is perfect for today’s young generation. The submission of important values will be more easily accepted and understood.
