UNS — Wedangan Ikatan Alumni (IKA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta entering its 64th Series on Wednesday (30/6/2021). This series discussed the “Architecture Entrepreneurs, Profession Outside the Study Field” that invited several Architecture Engineering Program UNS graduates who shared their experience in their respective fields.
The first speaker, Tombak Suhendro, the General Manager Residence (GM Residence) PT Grand Indonesia, shared that Indonesia has a low number of entrepreneurs. The ratio between entrepreneurs and the total population is 3.47%, far below Singapore or Japan. “This (condition) challenges us. I agree with the Vice-Dean and Dean that we need to increase the number of entrepreneurs, especially from IKA UNS,” he stated.
The next speaker, Achmad Ramali, is Architecture Engineering Program who works in the mining field with PT. Caterpillar in Batam, Kepulauan Riau. Even though he works in metal and mineral-related work, he said that Architecture Engineering’s basic knowledge significantly held him in this job.
Heri Widiatmoko, the founder and CEO of Akadbaiq.com, also attended the event. His platform provides a marketplace that offers online buying and selling services. The uniqueness of this platform is the saving mechanism for sales and purchases. The pillars provided by the platform are planning, saving, and purchasing.
The Dean of Engineering Faculty UNS, Dr. Techn. Ir. Sholihin As’ad admitted that he is delighted with this Wedangan IKA UNS. Dr. Sholihin hoped the experiences shared by the alumni could inspire students to be entrepreneurs. He also believes that the high number of entrepreneurs will strengthen the community.
“I am delighted with this forum as a medium to share and inspire from alumni for students. So they could develop well when working in the profession that does not match with what they learn in the university,” Dr. Sholihin stated. Humas UNS
