UNS — The Bengawan Team of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta managed to win two championship titles in the 2021 Energy Efficient Car Contest (KMHE). The competition was organized by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) at the Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa).
The two titles were 1st place in the Fun Race Prototype Gasoline and 2nd Place in Prototype Gasoline. In an interview with uns.ac.id, Afri Yusuf, the Team General Manager, said that in the competition, the car’s fuel consumption per kilometer was calculated.
“The competition itself has 9 (nine) laps, and the approximate distance is 10 KM. Actually, the UNS Bengawan team has prepared two cars, namely urban and prototype, which created with a concept of future vehicles with fuel efficiency values and are environmentally friendly,” said Afri, Tuesday (4/1/2022).
The team only has about two months of preparation before participating in the competition. This situation is due to pandemic constraints, limiting members from going to the lab. “The prototype has been prepared for a long time, and it went on further improvement until the KMHE 2021,” added Afri.
He revealed that they were very proud and happy with the achievement. “Hopefully, in the years to come, we can get other opportunities to win, of course, not only on the national but also on the international stage. We wish to contribute to UNS and Mechanical Engineering Study Program achievements,” concluded the Mechanical Engineering Study Program student. Humas UNS
