UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta improves its partnership with the global university, this time, exploring the potential of a partnership with The Regional University Center of Azuero, University of Panama (RUCAUP). Both universities signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Friday (8/10/2021) through a hybrid ceremony.
The offline ceremony held in Ruang Sidang II of dr.Prakosa Building UNS was attended by Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sajidan, M. Si., the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Tech. Ir. Sholihin As’ad, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Panama, Sukmo Harsono, and the Ambassador of Panama in Indonesia, Manuel Saturno.
Besides signing a university collaboration agreement, RUCAUP also establishes a partnership with the Architectural Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS. Representing the Rector of UNS, Prof. Yunus hoped that this collaboration could be implemented well.
“We greatly appreciate this collaboration. We hope to held various activities with the collaboration between UNS and the University of Panama, especially in the architectural and urban planning studies,” Prof. Yunus stated.
With the signing ceremony, both universities agreed to conduct institutional exchanges by inviting students and faculty members to participate in the joint research projects and training. Both universities also agreed to collaborate in essay writing, publication, thesis, and research-related information. The partnership also allows student exchange between UNS and RACAUP.
The Director of RACAUP, Prof. Leonardo Enrique Collado Trejos, M.Sc., welcomed the partnership and stated that Indonesia is one of the countries that have a meaningful impact on the Southeast Asian education sector. Therefore, this collaboration is expected to open a partnership between Panama and Indonesia. Prof. Leonardo also stated that he is enthusiastic about conducting several events with UNS.
“Education is a vital matter in our country. Thus, I am grateful to work and collaborate in the educational sector with Universitas Sebelas Maret in Indonesia,” he concluded.
The collaboration between UNS and RUCAUP will be effective for five years after the signing ceremony and could be extended if both universities consented to keep the collaboration. Humas UNS
