UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta granted donation to the victims of natural disaster in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). The donation was handed directly by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho and the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, to the Rector of Universitas Nusa Cendana (Undana) Kupang, NTT, Prof. Ir. Fredrik L. Benu, M.Si., Ph.D., through Zoom Cloud Meeting, Thursday (29/4/2021).
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, stated that through UNS Peduli, UNS donated IDR 50 million to NTT people affected by the recent tropical cyclone Seroja. UNS Peduli is routine fundraising managed by UNS academic members to help people in need. “This donation is for NTT people under the coordination of Undana Kupang,” Prof. Jamal explained.
The Rector of Undana Kupang, NTT, Prof. Ir. Fredrik L. Benu, M.Si., Ph.D., highly appreciates UNS participation in helping his people. Prof. Fredrik L. Benu also proclaimed his readiness to distribute the donation for NTT people affected by natural disasters. “We received the donation representing Universitas Nusa Cendana. We will be responsible and wisely distribute (the donation) to people in need,” Prof. Fredrik L. Benu stated.
Previously, UNS actively participates in social action through UNS Peduli in several areas, including Bekasi, Pekalongan, and other cities struck by natural disasters in Indonesia. The move is a collaboration between UNS alumni in various regions in Indonesia. In March 2020, UNS also held social activities for community members affected by Covid-19 under UNS Peduli Covid.
