UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a soft launching of UNS Tower “Ki Hadjar Dewantara” in Ballroom UNS Tower3rd floor on Wednesday (12/1/2022). The soft launching was marked with the transfer of minutes of handover from PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PP) to the commitment officer (PPK) and to the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum.
PT PP was represented by Ir. Anton Satyo Hendriatmo, M.Sc., and PPK was represented by Ir. Ahmad Farkhan, M.T. and Dr. E. Muhtar, S.Pd., M.Si., CFrA. The soft launching was also marked with the signing of inscription by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum.
In his report, Ir. Anton Satyo Hendriatmo, M.Sc., delivered his appreciation for UNS’ trust to hand the UNS Tower construction process to PT PP. He added that it was an honor to be involved in educational facilities improvement at UNS. “Congratulation to UNS for the soft launching. Hopefully, this building could benefit all UNS academic members,” he stated.
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., shared his pride in constructing the new tower nearing its 46th anniversary.
“It is felicitous that this building would bring UNS to be global because of its education innovation quality. We selected Ki Hadjar Dewantara as the name of this tower because of Indonesia’s educational figure’s spirits and tracked records for his fight with the knowledge and kindness for others. I believe (it) will bring luck for UNS to shape excellent and well-rounded human resources and to meet the eight Key Performance Indicators (IKU),” Prof. Jamal stated.
Previous Rectors of UNS, the 4th, 6th, and 7th Rector, Prof. Dr. Koento Wibisono Siswomihardjo, Prof. Dr. M Syamsulhadi, Sp.KJ(K)., and Prof. Dr. Ravik Karsidi, M.S., were invited to the soft launching ceremony. Prof. Jamal added that the tower is expected to boost UNS academic members’ spirits to be more confident in achieving its grand vision of developing science and arts while educating future leaders.
“Now I instructed the Vice-Rectors, Directors, Deans, Head of Bureaus, and other executives to prepare the facilities and infrastructures to ensure that (the tower) could be used soon,” Prof. Jamal added.
UNS Tower was built on 28 May 2021 and was completed on 31 December 2021. The eleven-floor building will be used as a facility to support the educational process in UNS and will be officially opened on 11 March 2022 on UNS 46th Anniversary. Humas UNS
