UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta hosted the Alas Bromo Syawwal Celebration: Bromo Culture Festival on 4 – 7 May 2022, right after the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1443 H. This event takes place in the Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) Mount Bromo UNS, Mojogedang, Karanganyar Regency or better known as Alas Bromo UNS in Karanganyar.
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, SH, M.Hum., revealed that the 2022 Bromo Culture Festival was enlivened by a series of events such as the Culinary and MSMEs Bazaar, Reog Festival, Art Festival, and the High Rope Outbound and Off-road cruising. “Culinary and MSME Bazaar are open for the community and MSMEs around Alas Bromo. They can participate in this activity by displaying regional products in the form of traditional cuisine and crafts from small businesses around Alas Bromo. Additionally, there was also Reog Festival for the general public from various groups to compete for the UNS Rector’s Cup and the Karanganyar Regent’s Charter,” said Prof. Jamal in his remarks (Wednesday, 4/5/2022).
Even more, there are Art Festival presenting dance and music performances by UNS students. For active outdoor activity, there were High Rope Outbound and Off-road cruising to introduce outdoor activities in KHDTK Gunung Bromo to the general public visitor. “I hope that the 2022 Bromo Culture Festival activities in May 2022 can drive similar activities and enliven KHDTK Gunung Bromo UNS,” continued Prof. Jamal.
Prof. Jamal thanked the Regent of Karanganyar, Drs. Juliyatmono, M.M., for facilitating the KHDTK Gunung Bromo Culture Festival implementation. “I would also like to thank all my colleagues who have worked hard to support this event with great enthusiasm,” added Prof. Jamal. Lastly, Prof. Jamal hopes for the implementation of this festival to contribute added value specifically to the area in Karanganyar. “At least for the residents around here, to promote better economic activity, education, and of course, it is a big investment for Karanganyar Regency. For example, during the holidays, there will be more and more people visiting Karanganyar,” explained Prof. Jamal.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Technical Implementation Unit of Forestry Education and Training (UPT PPK) UNS, Dwi Priyo Ariyanto, Ph.D., said that in addition to celebrating Eid al Fitr 1443 H, the Bromo Culture Festival aims to introduce Alas Bromo UNS and MSMEs around the site to the general public. “The purpose of the 2022 Bromo Culture Festival is to introduce and prepare Alas Bromo UNS as a natural and educational vacation site for the general public. This objective also aims to promote local MSMEs and introduce them to the community within and outside of the Soloraya region about the existence of urban forests in Karanganyar, namely Alas Bromo UNS, managed by UNS. The festival can also facilitate future planning for other programs to come and serve as a ‘stepping stone’ in establishing cooperation among the UPT PPK UNS, MSMEs, the community, and other interested parties around Alas Bromo UNS. And lastly, to preserve Indonesian culture, one of them is Reog Dance,” concluded Dwi. Humas UNS
