UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta is ready to support the activities of the Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) Surakarta. This support was announced by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, to the Chair of PBSI Surakarta, Fx. Hadi Rudyatmo on Saturday (4/9/2021) during a badminton training for the Faculty of Sport (FKOR) UNS academic members. Prof. Jamal states that UNS is ready to facilitate the events hosted by PBSI Surakarta. “Later, in the event of a badminton match, we are ready to accommodate the event in our Sports Center. Moreover, we can also provide a training center for the PBSI Surakarta athletes,” he said.
Furthermore, Prof. Jamal also expresses his happiness and appreciates the UNS badminton athletes attending the event. Even though not all team members of the UNS team are attending the event, the spirit and enthusiasm of UNS academic members remain high. “When I was entering this venue, for a while, I thought I saw the Pelatnas or Djarum Kudus athletes because of your great play. Even if not all teams are joining today, but there are many people gathered already. This attention shows how great the enthusiasm of UNS academic members in badminton,” Prof. Jamal praised.
The Chair of PBSI Surakarta for the period of 2021-2025, FX. Hadi Rudyatmo appreciates the support from UNS. He states that the facility will help coaches for their future club training. “We have a Surakarta Community Badminton Association Club (PB PMS Solo). In the future, we will boost the training to prepare more outstanding athletes to contribute to Surakarta’s achievements. Usually, the outstanding athletes from Solo got a call from Djarum Kudus,” said the former Surakarta Mayor.
Recently, UNS inaugurated a new Sports Center in FKOR UNS as a supporting facility for the students. This Sports Center is expected to support the PBSI Surakarta activities. FX. Hadi Rudyatmo leaks information that at the end of this year, there will be two tournaments.
“We planned to host a Mayor’s Championship (Kejurkot) and Mayor’s Cup. This Kejurkot is open for Badminton Club in Solo. Meanwhile, the general public can participate in the Mayor’s Cup. Later, the competition can be held in this Sports Center,” he concluded. Humas UNS
