UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Ramadan Study was held for the third time on Wednesday (28/4/2021). After held by the Faculty of Sports (FKor) UNS and Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS through offline and online methods, the current student was held entirely online. Prof. Dr. Ismi Dwi Astuti Nurhaeni, M.Si., the Dean of FISIP UNS, the Rector of UNS, the  Executive Board, and UNS academic members attended the study

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, mentioned in his opening remark that Ramadan Study should be held regularly to balance worldly life and afterlife because, in religious life, humans should continue improving their belief, piety, and religious knowledge. “So that our life that is full with worldly knowledge will be completed with our religious knowledge,” Prof. Jamal added.

UNS Ramadan Study: Understanding the Essence of Human Empowerment

The current UNS Ramadan Study held in FISIP invited Dr. Muhammad Harisudin as a speaker on the ‘Human Empowerment’ topic. In his speech, Dr. Muhammad Harisudin invited all UNS academic members to empower themselves through tauhid because empowered people are those who submit to Allah. Ironically, in Indonesia, the last few years have brought religiopolitical activities that separated humans from their cultures. Political competition causes humans to feel as if their choice is the best for all, while Allah SWT has managed everything before humans were created.

Humans should have full belief in Allah SWT because all that happened in human life is the will of Allah SWT. Dr. Muhammad Harisudin gave an example of when Prophet Sulaiman AS moved Queen Bilqis and did not become arrogant for the success by attributing it to Allah SWT test. This story becomes a critic for people who are complacent with their abilities and negate Allah SWT existence. Dr. Muhammad Harisudin stated that human arrogance over themselves could make them trapped in a fatal understanding.

“Mistakes of mindset in tauhid context has caused human to fail as Allah servant who are tasked to perform Allah’s guide and avoid Allah’s prohibition. Whereas the highest level of a human being is to be Abdullah or Allah’s servants. These (people who do not submit) are what are considered not empowered people. People who are lost to satan’s persuasion and their lust,” Dr. Muhammad Harisudin said.

UNS Ramadan Study was concluded with a message that people’s sincerity in what Allah has guaranteed and their negligence of what Allah requires of you to worship is proof of the darkness of your soul. Humas UNS
