In this Senate Session of Professor Inauguration held in G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium, Prof. Dr. dr. Yulia Lanti Retno Dewi, M. Si remarked her inaugural speech titled ‘Iodine Deficiency in Ecological Perspectives and Countermeasures’. The speech that she arranged was the research result of Prof. Yulia and Research Group about Iodine deficiency disorders (IDD).

Striking up her speech, Prof. Yulia said that iodine deficiency was one of the global issues and specifically in Indonesia, an estimated total 54 million people living in iodine deficiency areas.

“The Ministry of Health determines iodine deficiency as one of the main nutritional problems because it meets the criteria: afflicts many people, spreads throughout Indonesia, and affects the human quality mischievously in a long term,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Hunik Sri Runing Sawitri, S. E., M. Si delivered her inaugural address entitled ‘Organizational Commitment, Culture, and Employee Performance’. As a professor of HR Management of FEB UNS, Prof. Hunik alluded to the link between commitment and performance of an employee.

“People commonly assume that high-commitment employees have good outcomes. However, this research result shows that this is not always so,” marked Prof. Hunik.

She said that various studies that have been conducted to find out the relationship between the two constructions remained unclear and showed varied correlations.

“Therefore, when we want to see the link between commitment and outcome, the organizational commitment needs to be clarified,” she stated.

By the inauguration of Prof. Hunik and Prof. Yulia, Rector of UNS Prof. Jamal Wiwoho hopes that both would always maintain and develop scientific and academic values, as well as contribute to the UNS development and benefit for people in future. Humas UNS/Yefta/Try
