UNS — The Community Service Team of RG Plasma Science and Technology Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) held a training to make hand sanitizer from natural materials. The training was held in two different places, Ngoresan, Jebres, Surakarta and Polokarto, Sukoharjo on Sunday (13/6/2021).
Led by Dr. Kusumandari from the Physics Program FMIPA UNS, the team members are Dr. Maria Ulfa and Dr. Teguh Endah Saraswati from Chemistry Program.
To uns.ac.id, Dr. Kusumandari stated that this training aims to provide knowledge that hand sanitizer could be produced from natural ingredients in the community and not only from chemical substances.
“In this community service program, (we) introduced the addition of natural material such as mango leaves extract that has antibacterial and antiviral active substance,” she explained on Wednesday (16/6/2021).
Dr. Kusumandari stated that the participants were highly enthusiastic about the training. They also participated in a discussion on how to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in their area.
Besides preventing the spread of Covid-19, it is expected that the hand sanitizers produced in this training could be made in large amounts and sold to improve the local economy. Humas UNS
