UNS – Vice Rector for Planning and Cooperation of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Widodo Muktiyo, revealed UNS plan to send more students for community service activities (KKN) in Sabah, Malaysia next period, on Friday (23/2/2018 ).

UNS has sent 18 students to do KKN  in Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia on January-February 2018. The main purpose of the activities in the neighboring country is to teach the children of migrant workers in Malaysia.

“Almost all activities are focused on teaching and providing skills training such as batik and traditional arts,” said Widodo Muktiyo when explaining the activities of KKN students in Sabah in this VIII period.

KKN activities in Malaysia itself have several benefit such as building interest on reading and introducing national values among children of Indonesian migrant workers. Based on that, UNS plans to submit a proposal of cooperation to the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia regarding the sending of more students to conduct KKN activities in Sabah, Malaysia .

“The Rector will make a proposal of KKN cooperation to Kemendikbud, it is expected that more students can follow KKN activities in Malaysia. They will educate elementary and junior high school children,” Widodo Muktiyo explained.

KKN activities in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia get a positive response from the contract teachers and also the children of migrant workers there. This is evidenced as explained by Widodo that when KKN student withdrawal event, the children of migrant workers and contract teachers feel sad to release KKN students to return to Indonesia. humas-red.uns/Sav/Isn
