UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta continues to adapt its activities to the pandemic situation, especially in the online or distance learning process. To improve its online learning quality, the university has collaborated with various parties. Recently UNS signed a collaboration agreement with Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMEO SEAMOLEC) on Thursday (23/9/2021) in a hybrid ceremony attended by the Rector UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sajidan, M. Si., and the Director of SEAMEO SEAMOLEC, R. Alpha Amirrachman, M.Phil., Ph.D.
The collaboration aims to improve the quality of education, research, community services and to develop an open and distanced learning system. This collaboration covers the education, research, training, and human resource development, the development of computer technology and information, publication and information, utilization of science and technology, exchange of course materials, institutional development support, and the implementation of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program.
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, hoped that this collaboration could be implemented to support the implementation of good governance and improve human resource quality, including the students and alumni. “So that they could swim diverse professions. I also hope that this collaboration could improve the learning process from all faculty members through interactive learning,” Prof. Jamal stated.
The Director of SEAMEO SEAMOLEC, R. Alpha Amirrachman, M.Phil., Ph.D., warmly welcomed this collaboration that is agreed to be effective for three years. He stated that UNS is one of the universities with excellent service improvement initiatives, and his institute is proud to collaborate with UNS.
“Hopefully, what SEAMEO SEAMOLEC performed could truly encourage what UNS academic members dreamed. Hopefully, we could prepare students who are ready in diverse conditions together,” he stated.
Besides signing a memorandum of understanding with UNS, SEAMEO SEAMOLEC also signed a specific partnership with the Faculty of Teacher Education and Training (FKIP), especially for the Doctoral Program in Education Science and Master Program in Education Technology. In the next year, the collaboration will focus on certification training in information and communication technology and the development of learning media in android block programming, augmented reality, and virtual reality programming.
This partnership will also develop networking between both institutions in managing journals, student internships, seminars and workshops, faculty member and student exchange, and research and community service programs. However, this does not close the probability for other programs agreed by both parties. Humas UNS
