UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta establish another collaboration with various institutions and companies. This time, UNS collaborates with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) to improve UNS efforts in environmental and forestry actions. This collaboration was effective after the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony between UNS and KLHK on Monday (23/8/2021) through an online platform.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Secretary-General of KLHK, Bambang Hendroyono, and representative from UNS, the Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sajidan, M. Si. The ceremony was also attended by Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus and several Dean of Faculties and the Chief of Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) and Institute of Educational Quality Assurance and Development (LPPMP)
Prof. Sajidan welcomed this partnership and stated that this signing ceremony is a start to build collaboration from faculties in UNS and units (Satker) in KLHK. “We hope that with this MoU signing could be a basis so that we could establish a partnership with Satkers in KLHK, especially with Faculty of Agriculture (FP), Postgraduate School, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Faculty of Law (FH), and LPPM that will be followed by other faculties,” Prof. Sajidan said.
The KLHK Secretary-General, Bambang Hendroyono, also welcomed the initiation of collaboration. Bambang admitted that this collaboration proved that UNS cares for the environment and willing to improve good environmental awareness. He added that research on the environment is increasing recently, requiring a synergy between all community members, including the academicians. “Good environmental quality will support better life,” he added.
At the ceremony, Bambang also appreciated UNS promoting the Green Campus in the last few years. The campaign is expected to be a basis of concept for university and academic members in their future life. With the Green Campus concept, KLHK hoped that UNS could maintain the campus’ ecosystem, take care of the plants and animals, and shape scholars who love the environment. KLHK beliefs that those objectives could be achieved through the Green Campus campaign and this signing ceremony.
The memorandum of understanding regulates that UNS and KLHK will work together in improving Higher Education Tridharma through research, community service, and education. In education, both parties agreed to exchange information and knowledge on environmental science and forestry. UNS and KLHK also decided to conduct research collaboration and publication in environmental and forestry. Both parties agreed to provide socialization and education on environmental science and forestry as a part of joint community service.
UNS and KLHK also agreed to implement the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program that will be regulated separately through an agreement to be discussed by UNS and KLHK units. Collaboration is also expected to develop between the Doctoral Program by research initiated under the understanding that is valid for five years. Humas UNS
