UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indonesian Telematics Society (MASTEL). The signing ceremony was held online through the Zoom Could Meeting on Friday (23/7/2021). The event was attended by 61 participants who represent UNS and MASTEL.

This MoU covers the preparation for teaching modules on the digital economy, awareness of the digital economy, digital social ethics, and digital culture. The collaboration aims to develop a comprehensive teaching module on the digital economy’s awareness, digital social ethics, and digital culture for classroom learning, training, and other activities agreed by both parties. The agreement also covers the dissemination of the module to all related stakeholders.

MASTEL is a non-profit organization as a forum for communication and information exchange for all stakeholders in information and technology and communication and broadcasting (Telematics) fields. These stakeholders include business owners, organizations, associations, and professionals. MASTEL also has a function to bridge the government, community, and telematics, business actors.

In his opening remark, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M. Hum., invited all participants to build a collaborative ecosystem to develop digital literacy to support arts and cultural performers. Prof. Jamal hoped that the signing ceremony could be implemented well. “I hope this ceremony does not stop in witnessed by many participants, but more importantly, it could be implemented well,” he stated.

Responding to Prof. Jamal’s remarks, Sarwoto Atmosutarno, as the Chairman of MASTEL, hoped that this signing ceremony would become a means to support the success of the digital literacy process. “Hopefully, this memorandum of understanding becomes a means that support our success in supporting digital literacy in a better direction,” Sarwoto stated.

The teaching module preparation will start in August 2021 and is targeted to be completed in December 2021. This preparation process will involve the Undergraduate Program in Management, Undergraduate Program in Development Economics, Diploma Program (D3) in Finance and Banking, D3 Business Management, and PUI Center for Fintech and Banking. Other programs concerned with this collaboration are Undergraduate Program in Communication Science, Undergraduate Program in Sociology, Undergraduate Program in Psychology, D3 Applied Communication, Undergraduate Program in Local Literature, Undergraduate Program in Indonesian Language and Literature, Sastra Indonesia, Undergraduate Program in Historical Science, and PUI Javanologi.
