UNS — Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta is mentioned as the source for entrepreneurs by the Vice-Rector III UNS Research and Innovation Affairs, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo in Wedangan Ikatan Alumni (IKA) UNS series-71 held online through the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform, Wednesday (18/8/2021).
In his opening remark in the event that has “Creative-Innovative to Grow and Resilient amid the Pandemic” as theme, Prof. Kuncoro openly stated that FSRD is the source from entrepreneurs. Many FSRD alumni become entrepreneurs and have creative and innovative spirits that supported them in creating employment in the community.
“The first two words of today’s theme are creative and innovative; these are memorable for us. Creativity is how we think differently; innovative means we do something different. These are the keys from FSRD to be the source of entrepreneurs until now. FSRD is always leading in shaping an entrepreneur,” Prof. Kuncoro stated. He added that the university is proud of FSRD alumni’s achievements, and he is grateful that FSRD alumni are willing to share their experiences with the students. The Vice-Rector also hoped that alumni who work as entrepreneurs could allow students to participate in their business.
“Currently, our students have the opportunity to learn 20 credit semesters outside the campus. Suppose ladies and gentlemen have an idea to bring our students into the entrepreneurship field. In that case, we could discuss further the concept so that the activity can be recognized in the learning program. The students who participate in your business could become the source of the business creator,” Prof. Kuncoro stated.
The Dean of FSRD UNS, Dr. Rahmanu Widayat, agreed with the Vice-Rector remark, as stated that the alumni could provide an opportunity for students to participate in their business. If necessary, FSRD is ready to sign a memorandum of understanding to build a partnership with alumni’s business. He explained that currently, FSRD had established partnerships with various parties at the national and international levels. The faculty also collaborates with several universities, such as Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta. FSRD also collaborates with Batik Semar and the Indonesian Furniture Entrepreneurs Association who agree to facilitate student activities. The Dean also hoped that the sharing session in the Wedangan IKA could inspire students.
“It is exciting. Inviting alumni with long experiences. Achieving such a level is not easy; thus, it could be a role model for students. The alumni’s achievements could inspire students that after graduated they could be creative creators, university teachers, and entrepreneurs,” he concluded.
The Wedangan was attended by several speakers who are the alumni of FSRD UNS, such as Anita Kusumawati S.Sn (Batik SYN Entrepreneur Solo), Drs. Bambang Saptono (broadcast entrepreneur and expert staff at the Office of the Presidential Staff), Edy Santoso, S.Sn. (MSME consultant and entrepreneur), Dra. Tri Nafsiati, M.M.
