UNS — The Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, encouraged the Vocational School (SV) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students to be entrepreneurs because he considers entrepreneurial spirits in the young generation are the dream of Indonesian people in achieving independence. This encouragement was delivered in the webinar Vokafest UNS 2021 “Young Entrepreneur for a Better Future” held by the Student Executive Board (BEM) SV UNS on Saturday (7/8/2021) through the Zoom Cloud Meeting.
In his remark, Ganjar Pranowo mentioned that the topic is serious and that the unity of Indonesia will never take place if people are not willing to take small steps. The governor added that even though not all people could succeed in the entrepreneurial fields, but reminded that university students should help and assist the development of the national and state life order and principles.
“Importantly, never waste your youth by complaining, demanding, and being lazy. We need to feel the tired, stress, and sickness to taste the success,” he reminded.
Shaping Young Entrepreneurs
Through Vokafest UNS 2021 BEM SV UNS wants to build and shape competent young entrepreneurs in Indonesia. Five speakers were invited to share their knowledge and experience in entrepreneurial life. These speakers are Nugroho Joko Prastowo (Chairman of Bank Indonesia (BI) Surakarta), Mega Shintya Andriyani (founder @plazapreneur, @namaplanner, @khadeejahfashion, and @konsultasi.bisnis), Fellexandro Ruby (content creator and Co-Founder Thirty Days of Lunch Podcast), Bastian Zeller (Marketing Manager Lokalate), and FX Suranta (Branch Manager BRI Surakarta Sudirman).
The Dean of SV UNS, Drs. Santoso Tri Hananto, M.Acc appreciated the efforts taken by Vokafest UNS 2021 committee and BEM SV UNS. He stated that it is time for Indonesia to have skilled and competent human resources. He also added that as a vocational education institution, SV UNS has a role in achieving this dream and shaping human resources that have deep knowledge and can put the knowledge into practice.
“Today and the future, Indonesia needs people who can do this and that, not only people who have learned. Vocational education is the place to shape skilled and competent human resources,” Drs. Santoso Tri Hananto, M.Acc., said. Therefore, BEM SV UNS Vokafest UNS 2021 aligns with SV UNS vision to teach students into a young and competent entrepreneurs by inviting professionals with diverse business experiences. This means the entrepreneurship course will no longer be conducted by a teacher with entrepreneurship knowledge but also by business professionals with real business experience.
“We have communicated to LPPMP UNS that entrepreneurship course, starting this semester, must be taught by professionals with experience in managing a business or an entrepreneur,” he explained. Humas UNS
