In Collaboration with UNS, Taiwanese Library Expert Improves the Quality of Librarians

UNS – Library of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta in cooperation with National Kauhsang Normal University (NKNU) Taiwan held an international seminar “Information Literacy for Improving Quality of Library Management and Service”, Friday (6/10/2017), in the seminar room on the 2nd floor of UNS Library.

Seminar presentation by Yu Yuan Tsu, an expert in library management from Taiwan

The seminar featured an expert speaker in library management from NKNU, Librarian Yu Yuan Tse, and the Head of UNS Library, Muhammad Rohmadi.

The seminar was attended by library heads, librarians, heads of study programs, teachers, and literacy activists from various regions.

The seminar was held as a strengthening effort for library managers or librarians in managing and developing library services, both school libraries, regional libraries and university libraries.

Library is expected to be an evolving organization in serving the needs of information, especially in the current era, thus becoming the main source of reference in the academic field.

Sutarno, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs UNS stated the importance of information literacy for the community.

It will ease people in finding the information and getting the valid and actual data or information.

In the presentation of the material, Yu Yuan Tse recounted the ease of access gained by the community or students in Taiwan in accessing information available in the NKNU library.

The example is an integrated card that can be used for various accesses and services.

“Students are welcome to provide any input and suggestions to the library staff that are desirable, in order to develop more advanced libraries,” said Yu Yuan Tse.

Rohmadi added that the library is a place for students to grow into active and creative generation. From this generation will be born high productivity, which can generate new knowledge and ideas.

“Librarians must change the mindset, that librarians are not merely bookkeepers, but must also be transformed into information consultants, scientific consultants for the community in discovering or exploring knowledge,” he added. humas-red.uns/Sav/Eln
