UNS — Her educational background in Physics Education Program in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta did not stop Annisa Dwi Nursanti from creating works in art and creative fields. The 2018 student won 2nd position in the Climate Cure Competition held by Society Renewable Energy (SRE) UNS.
Contacted by uns.ac.id on Monday (22/3/2021), Annisa said that her design connected the earth’s condition, including its climate crisis and the current pandemic. Through her work, Annisa wants to share that self-awareness on the earth’s condition can serve as an initial foundation to start environmental conservation in the future.
Recent disasters are closely related to climate change inspires Annisa to raise awareness on the topic. Whether we realized or not, climate change is caused by our daily activities, including the community’s consumerism in plastic use. “Besides, in the pandemic, we often bought goods and foods that cause plastic wastes. Without realizing it, our mask also creates a new kind of waste,” she added.
The competition held in January 2021 consists of several stages, starting from registration to work upload and its caption in the participant’s Instagram account. Annisa thinks that this competition is highly beneficial because various works submitted in the competition becomes a media to improve student’s and community’s knowledge in the existing climate problems.
The competition also supports her interest in designing a poster for community education. Annisa also participated in several essay competitions. She thinks that educational posters must contain real power and facts. She applied these aspects in the SRE poster competition that brought her as 2nd champion.
“Not only informative but also contain data and fact so that people who see our poster understand the meaning and objective of the poster,” Annisa said. Humas UNS
