UNS — The next few days will mark the transition from 2022 to 2023. Welcoming the new year, students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta took the initiative to host a collective prayer and pizza sharing at the Mushola of Bulukantil Elementary School Ngoresan Wednesday (28/12/2022).
This activity was initiated by students and alumni of UNS. The students are Tasya Ayu Oktayana (student of the Master Program in Javanese Language Education Study Program UNS), Muhammad Noval (alumnus of Arabic Literature Study Program UNS), Ahmad Hanafi (student of Agribusiness Study Program UNS), Kumala Aurani (student of Master Program in Javanese Language Education Study Program UNS), Iin Mutmainah (student of Agribusiness Study Program UNS), Zaqiyah (student of FMIPA UNS), Fatiha Nida (student of Faculty of Agriculture UNS), Akbar Esa (alumnus of Agribusiness Study Program UNS), Beyfa Rizki (student of FKIP UNS), Dwi Ria (student of Biology Education Study Program) Taufik Malik (alumnus of Agribusiness Study Program), and Lia Warohmah (student of FH UNS) incorporated in Dhaharan.id. Dhaharan.id is a community established by UNS students for food sharing.
Noval explains that the current year-end event consisted of several activities. “This event concludes our charity distribution series, conducted by Dhaharan.id in 2022. The event started with an opening remark, the introduction of Dhaharan.id, new year wishes from the participating children, mauidhah hasanah (t/n. Arabic term referring to teaching kindness) and prayer, food sharing (pizza, milk, and lunchbox) for the children, and free hijab for the local resident attending the event,” Noval reveals.
This event was conducted by Dhaharan.id in collaboration with the local Qur’an Education Groups administrator. Dhaharan.id team also invited Ustadz Yusuf Haikal Mulachela, S.S., M.Hum., an Islamic Religious Education Lecturer in UNS and teacher in Madrasah Riyadhul Ilmi, as a speaker for the event. The topic discussed was the implementation of hadiths regarding three religious practices that will bring continuous merit for Muslims even after they pass away, which aims to encourage the participants to increase their spirit in engaging in meritorious activity and kindness in the next year.
Further, Noval explains that they also invite children to nurture their dreams and hopes.
“We invited the parents of the Qur’an Education Group participants, prepared the event including the speaker, prepared the food in beautiful packaging, and encouraged the children to nurture their dreams, as well as creating origami,” said Noval.
Representing his team members, Noval hopes that this event can conclude the year in a positive manner.
“This sharing event has become a monthly activity, initiated by Dhaharan.id team. Because the current event coincides with the new year event, thus a collective prayer is considered a suitable activity to be done,” Noval hopes. Humas UNS
