UNS – The students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta who are incorporated in ‘Semarak Inspirasi’ (Vibrant Inspiration-SI) Community, shows their concern on education by organizing ‘Semarak Mengajar’ event in SDN 1 Wonosari, Gondangrejo, Kabupaten Karanganyar.
The ‘Semarak Mengajar’ that has reached the 3rd batch is held on 7-16 February 2020. The event is started with a seminar with the principals and teachers of in foster village (Dabin-Desa Binaan) II Wonosari with a theme ‘Teacher Pedagogical in Disruption Era’. The event itself invites Dr. Suharno, M. Pd, a lecturer of Postgraduate study in Elementary School Education (PGSD), the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS, as the main speaker.
“For deployment to Wonosari village on 8th (February) there was a Grand Opening for ‘Semarak Mengajar’ 3rd Batch at Wonosari Village Hall, Gondangrejo. On the 9th (February) there was an out-bond with the students of SDN 1 Wonosari, Gondangrejo, and then for the 4th to 7th day we had a creative teaching in each class according to the curriculum in SDN 1 Wonosari for the 1st to 5th-grade students,” said the Leader of SI in SDN 1 Wonosari, Taufik.
For 9 days in Gondangrejo, the SI teacher who was known as ‘Inspirator Muda (Young Inspirator)’ carries out their duty to teach the students in SDN 1 Wonosari using various creative methods. A creative method is chosen because the SI team does not want to make the students of SDN 1 Wonosari to feel bored during the lecture in the classroom and to help the students to understand the material given.
“Creative teaching is conducted differently from conventional teaching, which usually more focused on the lecture. Creative teaching refers to teaching with a slight improvisation, thus the material can be understood well by students and avoid boredom both inside and outside the classroom. This also supported by maximizing learning media in the classroom and others,” said Taufik.
Besides teaching, SI UNS also organizes other events such as extracurricular training for students’ storytelling, music, Qur’an recitation, poetry, and dance. During the night, the SI UNS also held a tutoring activity for several students who need assistance in the academic field, by visiting the student’s house for free.
When asked about the works of devotion from the SI UNS, Taufik mentioned that SI UNS is basically a community that focused on education. This noble intention of SI UNS will be implemented continuously until now. As the name implies, the objective of SI UNS teaching programs is expected to inspire many people.
“Semarak Inspirasi is a community that focused on education that was established on November 17th, 2017 initiated by Isna Nur Insani from the Communication Studies Program (2015), Ridho Pratama Saeful Millah from the Counseling Education Study Program (2015), and Audina Solicha from Midwifery Study Program (2015). The main target of the SI teaching movement is the children in the Solo and its surrounding areas, and hopefully, there will be more young generation who join our devotion and inspired by our program, and they are inspiring the others,” he concluded.
