UNS – Universitas Brawijaya (UB) Malang visited Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Thursday (20/2/2020). During the visit, the contingent from UB Malang is led directly by the Vice Rector I of UB, Prof. Dr. drh. Aulanni’am, DES. The contingent was welcomed by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho and staff in Ruang Sidang II, dr. Prakosa Building, UNS.
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho said that UNS and UB are the two universities with a good relationship. These two universities have several similarities one of them is both universities are prepared by the Government to be a Higher Education with Legal Entity (Perguruan Tinggi Negri Berbadan Hukum- PTN-BH), but currently remained as Higher Education as Public Service Agency (PTN-BLU).
“In October 2019, the universities that were elected by the Government can be converted to be PTN-BH. However, this cannot fully be implemented because of one and other matters, one of them is the change in the management of higher education institutions by the Kemenristekdikti that become part of Kemendikbud,” said Prof. Jamal.
Furthermore, an issue that currently is discussed frequently within a higher education institution in Indonesia regarding ‘Merdeka Belajar’ and ‘Kampus Merdeka’, which initiated by the new Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Nadiem Makarim, does not escape from his attention.
“The dissemination and studies on ‘Kampus Merdeka’ or ‘Merdeka Belajar’ are needed. Because it will affect the teaching and learning process. That is why we need immediate action, especially by the Vice Rector of Academic Affairs to prepare planning on ‘Kampus Merdeka’,” Prof. Jamal said.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector I of UB Malang, Prof. Aulanni’am is expressing a consistent view of the discussion delivered by Prof. Jamal. However, not only exchange ideas related to external issues of higher education institutions, Prof. Aulanni’am also mentioned their desire to exchange knowledge with UNS about the learning process on the campus. One of them is related to the Student Community Service Program (KKN).
“Several faculties in Universitas Brawijaya have a target village that might collaborate with KKN UNS in the future to jointly contribute to the community,” said Prof. Aulanni’am. Humas UNS/Ratri
