UNS — The Team from Agricultural Extension & Communication Student Association (HM Pelita) for Holistic Village Development and Empowerment Program, Faculty of Agriculture (FP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) organizes training on Mushroom Processed Product. The event was held through a direct meeting on Saturday (5/9/2020) in Gondangmanis, Karanganyar District.
HM Pelita is one of the students’ organizations in UNS that successfully passed the selection of the PHP2D 2020 program from the Minister of Education and Culture. The Chief of PHP2D HM Pelita, Riskia Akbar, reveals that this activity is one of the first steps in community economic empowerment in Gondangmanis Village. In this training, HM Pelita invites one speaker in Mushroom Processed Product, Giyatno.
“The objective of this training is you improve the Gondangmanis Village residents’ competency in processing mushroom into economical products, thus increasing the added value of the mushrooms. In the long-term, the projection of this processed product is to earn a certification from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham),” she explains in an interview with the uns.ac.id, Sunday (13/9/2020).
The training was attended by 10 representatives from the resident of Gondangmanis Village. Also attending the training, the Supervisor of the PHP2D program, Eksa Rusdiyana, M.Sc., who delivers a brief speech in the event. Previously, in Gondangmanis there are several mushroom farmers incorporated in an Association of Farmers’ Group (Gapoktan). “There is a mushroom processing, however, it has not managed optimally. Previously, the production is based on incoming order, most of the mushrooms are sold as raw material,” Riskia added.
Aside from providing training in mushroom processing, HM Pelita also establishes a mushroom food processing group and hand over equipment to support the production process. “In our previous training, we process oyster mushroom and Jew’s ear mushroom into chips. The training was attended by the moms, who initially joined a mushroom farmer group. In the meantime, we will make processed lingzhi mushrooms into beverage products for the time being,” she explains.
Riskia hopes that this program can help the community to innovate independently in developing the existing potential. Humas UNS
