UNS – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS) Surakarta held an Inauguration and Oath Taking Ceremony for the 211th period, in FK UNS Hall, Friday morning (17/01/2020).
Attending the ceremony were the UNS Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, the Dean of FK UNS, Dr. Reviono, the Vice Dean of FK UNS, the Head of Doctor Professional Study Program FK UNS, Vicky Eko Nurcahyo Sp. THT-KL(K), M. Sc, and Acting General Director of Moewardi Hospital Surakarta, dr. Ikhwan Hamzah.
During the accountability report in the front of the prospective doctors and the family members of the prospective doctors who attend the ceremony, the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs FK UNS, Paramasari Dirgahayu, Ph. D mentioned that in this 211th Inauguration and Oath Taking Ceremony there are 17 prospective doctors, who have passed the Competency Test for Student of Doctor Professional Program (UKMPPD), in November 2019.
“Based on the Competency Test (UKMPPD) on November 10th, 2019, there were 22 participants and 17 of them passed the test. Therefore, the 17 students will be inaugurated today,” Paramasari said.
Further, she added that the prospective doctor from Myanmar, dr. Yuzana Maung, has successfully achieved the highest GPA of 3.55 and will be inaugurated and took the oath together with her fellow students of doctor professional program, in front of the Dean of FK UNS Dr. Reviono and the Vice Rector of UNS Prof. Ahmad Yunus.
Welcoming the inauguration of the new doctors who graduated from FK UNS, the Acting General Director of Moewardi Hospital Surakarta, dr. Ikhwan Hamzah mentioned that a doctor holds an important position in society. Therefore, he advised the new doctor to maintain their reputation as a doctor wherever they are assigned.
“A doctor’s oath is something that you, your family, and your future husband or wife have been waiting for, and that title is considered as a special degree by the general public. Later on, when you live in your hometown, you will have a special stratum, which means you all must protect the reputation of a doctor,” he explains.
The Vice Rector of Academic Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus also mentioned a similar request to the 17 prospective doctors who are inaugurated that day, to maintain FK UNS reputation, by becoming an alumnus who took important roles and provides various services for the community. Prof. Ahmad Yunus also hopes that new doctors can be mature in dealing with everything that happens in society.
“Later, the community will assess the quality of UNS alumni, especially the new doctors. The public can judge that in 2-3 years, the new doctors have not understood much about the condition of the community. Therefore, you need to interact with the community, because the real campus and the campus of life exist in the community,” said Prof. Yunus as a closing. Humas UNS/Yefta
