UNS – The Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta added two more Professors in the Faculty of Math and Science (FMIPA) and Faculty of Law (FH). The inauguration of the two Professors was carried out by Prof. Jamal Wiwoho as the Rector of UNS, on Thursday (16/01/2020) in GPH Haryo Mataram Auditorium.
The two professors are Prof. Dr. Eng. Budi Purnama, S.Si., M.Si; the 16th professor in FMIPA and 211th professor in UNS, and Prof. Dr. Pujiyono, S.H., M.H.; the 7th professor in FH and 212th professor in UNS. There is a unique fact about the inauguration of the two professors, that is Prof. Dr. Pujiyono, S.H., M.H., is the youngest Professor in UNS, who is 40 years and 2 months old.
“This is a good mark for the future of UNS because the regeneration of Professor in UNS has shown its result. Please note that the average age of Professor in UNS is 55 years old,” Prof. Jamal said during his remarks.
In this excellent occasion, Prof. Jamal also conveyed happy news for UNS. The first, there will be another Professor inauguration on January 21, 2020. Secondly, the UNS Public Relations (Humas) had just achieved the “Anugerah Humas” award from the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation in 2019.
During the event, an inauguration speech was read out by each Professor. The first speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Eng. Budi Purnama, S.Si., M.Si., entitle Sociology Magneto: Treatise on the Interaction of Magnetic Materials. The second speech by Prof. Dr. Pujiyono., S.H., M.H., entitle Encouraging Out-of-Court Mediation as the Mainstream Model in Business Dispute Resolution.
With this inauguration, Prof. Jamal hopes that the two Professors will always maintain and develop their scientific and academic values. Moreover, the Professors are expected to contribute especially to the development of UNS and for the development of the nation and state of Indonesia in general.
“The existence of a professor is not confined to a title, but more than that. Their scientific expertise must be proven and encouraged, then manifested in a creation that is useful for the society,” Prof. Jamal instructed. Humas UNS/Ratri
