UNS — Another international achievement was made by students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. This time, the achievement came from the badminton sector. Recently, Fiery Mufti Eldison from the Recreational and Health Physical Education (PJKR) Study Program, Faculty of Sports (FKOR) UNS, won 3rd Place in the Men’s Single category in the Invitation of Net Game Competition Yogyakarta State University (INGCO UNY) 2022 in March.
The second-semester students were defeated by Zufar Efendi from Semarang State University (Unnes) in the semifinal. Although he had to admit the superiority of the athlete from Unnes, he managed to give a fierce resistance against his contender. Fiery lost the game with a tight score, 23-25, 19-21, and failed to advance to the final stage. However, he claimed to be very pleased with his achievements. Moreover, currently, he is still sitting in the second semester. “Alhamdulillah, I feel joyous. Moreover, this is my second game at the university level, and I won 3rd place. Previously, at Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), I also got 3rd place. Thus, I am very happy and proud,” said Fiery when interviewed by uns.ac.id, Monday (9/5/2022).
He admitted that his preparation was not optimal because of the limited time. And since the event was carried out during the semester break, there was only a limited practice session. Fiery considers that in quality, the contenders have superb skills. “The opponent is almost similar to the UM championship, all familiar faces, nothing new,” he added.
The student from Nganjuk, East Java, hopes to achieve a consistent outcome in future tournaments. He also aims to get on the 1st place podium. Humas UNS
