UNS — The Vocational School (SV) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a meeting with the Student Executive Board (BEM) of SV UNS on Monday (3/4/2020). This meeting, which held through the Zoom meeting, aims to answer the challenges and problems pertaining to academic activities amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The meeting was attended by the Director of SV UNS, Santoso Tri Hananto, M. Acc., and Deputy Director for Academic and Student Affairs SV UNS, Agus D. Priyanto, MCALL. Meanwhile, as representative from SV UNS BEM, Danu Chandra as the Vice President of SV UNS BEM is attending the meeting.
In front of the SV UNS students, Drs. Santoso Tri Hananto first explained the verification process for the payment of the single tuition fee (UKT) relief and dispensation, both from a regular method and Covid-19 relief.
“There are many applications for UKT relief and dispensation both from the regular application and through UNS Rector Regulation No 18 of 2020 regarding UKT Relief for UNS Student During the Covid-19 Pandemic,” said Santoso. He added that his party in SV UNS, this year is the first time for him to directly receive relief and dispensation application because previously the Diploma Program is managed under each Faculty in UNS, thus the application process was under Faculty’s authority. Regarding this, Santoso mentioned that the dispensation approved and granted by SV UNS is based on the previous dispensation given to the students in the previous semester. During processing the application for UKT relief and dispensation, SV UNS checks and verifies the validity of the data uploaded by students through the siakad.uns.ac.id page.
This explanation is verified by Agus D. Priyanto, MCALL., who states that during the process of UKT relief and dispensation application, SV UNS did not carry out field verification and face-to-face interviews, thus all stages were carried out online to prevent Sars-Cov-2 transmission. “There are around 570 applications for regular dispensation. Insyaallah, all have been verified, while for the Covid-19 application there are 870 students’ applications. It turns out that there are some who double filed on the regular application and have been registered, thus we proposed and verified 793 applications. This number mostly is submitted by last year’s students. We have verified the exemption of UKT according to schedule and on July 27 we have submitted the verification to the university. This means that all UKT dispensation application has been verified on time,” Agus explains.
Another topic discussed at the meeting was the implementation of the online lecture on the next semester. Santoso states that his party has succeeded in realizing a photography and videography laboratory in the UNS SV Building of Tirtomoyo. Later, this lab can be used by the lecturer to prepare teaching material. He also adds that online lecture activities will be presented attractively with a time division of 20 minutes for an overview of the material, 45-90 minutes for watching teaching materials video prepared by lecturers, and the last 20 minutes for previewing the material.
“We have encouraged them and scheduling the instructional video filming; thus the quality of the upcoming lectures will increase and student spending will decrease. This is a combination of online face-to-face and sending instructional videos for courses with 100 minutes duration or 2 credits,” he concluded. Humas UNS
