UNS — After inviting Go-Bung application, Eryneta Nurul Hasanah from Javanese Language Education Program Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta obtained another achievement with Tebak Aksara Jawa (Tebak Raja) application (Guess the Javanese Script). Together with Dji Hanafit from the Mechanical Engineering Education Program who have made several achievements, Eryn won the 3rd position in the National Essay Competition PGSD Fair Universitas Negeri Medan (Unimed) on Tuesday (15/9/2020).

In the competition with IT-Based Learning Media Innovation as sub-theme, the students created Tebak Raja game application as a learning media innovation to read Javanese script based on Information and Technology. The Javanese script used in the game is not limited in word but also contain aksara murda, aksara swara, and number. Tebak Raja requires students or users to write Latin letters from Javanese Script that appears on the screen. “If they cannot answer, they cannot proceed to the next level,” Eryn stated on Wednesday (23/9/2020).

The main target of this application, Eryn added, is the students of Junior High School (SMP). This is based on the consideration of the problems surrounding Javanese Script learning at the Junior High School, which is a transition from Elementary School and Senior High School. “So, we think that this innovation is appropriate to be applied. We hope that when students move to the Senior High School, the challenges in learning Javanese Script can be minimized or solved,” Eryn added.

Concerning the test of application before the final round on 15 September, Eryn and Dji have conducted a trial of Tebak Raja to Junior High School students in Central Java and East Java and received positive responses from students, which makes Eryn and Dji feel glad that they can help the students.

When asked about the stages of the competition, Eryn explained that the essay competition has similar stages with the essay competition in general. Except that due to the pandemic, the competition system was shifted to online competition. This brought several challenges for Eryn and Dji. Eryn because they think online competition requires greater efforts than the offline competition. Especially for presentations, where they have to start from practicing themselves, preparing PowerPoints, making presentation videos according to sections, to uploading them to YouTube. Humas UNS
