UNS – Students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta joining in UNS Urban Farming Team, successfully obtained Silver Medal Award of Taiwan Innotech Expo (TIE) Invention Contest 2019 and Special Award for Best International Invention presented by National University of Science and Technology “MISiS”, Russia on September 25 – 28, 2019 in Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) Exhibition Hall 1, Taiwan.
The team consisted of three students of Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS, namely Fahmi Ismail, Aditya Pratama, and Muhammad Renaldy Darmawan. Then, three students of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS, namely Nurdiyanti, Yuni Irwanti Siswatun Kasana, and Atina Rahmawati.
TIE is a prestigious international invention contest established by the government of Taiwan (TAITRA or Taiwan External Trade Development Council) and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI).
UNS presented an innovative technology called AIMAS (Automatic Aquaponic System) which is an automatic aquaponic that able to detect room temperature and nutrition, control irrigation, as well as lighting intensity by sensors. The information will be displayed on the smartphone using the application to help the users monitoring the condition of the aquaponic in real-time.
Nurdiyanti, one of the team members who is a student of the Physics Education Department of FKIP UNS, said that the TIE event was interesting and competitive. TIE is an exhibition of sophisticated technologies and at the same time shows the technological progress that has been applied in Taiwan.
